About Capital & Conflict
Our mission here at Capital & Conflict is simple: to arm you with the insights and ideas you need to help make better, more profitable investment decisions.
In a world of zero interest rates, geopolitical shocks, and pandemics, just protecting your wealth – let alone growing it – is a damned tricky task.
What investments really are “safe” in a world of coronavirus, Cold War II, and money printing running amok? What’s a “good investment”? And what’s just a gamble?
That’s what we’re here for. The purpose of Capital & Conflict is to parse the oceans of information drowning the world every day for the pearls of knowledge that will aid your investment portfolio.
You may be a sophisticated investor, or you may just be starting out – we don’t discriminate. We’re just trying to figure out what’s really going on.
We publish our insights every single weekday – 100% free of charge.
Every day, our team of analysts around the world reveal their insights, analysis and opinions on the world of finance, investment and geopolitics… and share them directly with private investors by email.
Things like:
- How “Cold War II” now waged by the US and China will destroy investors on the wrong side of it
- How technocrats in the UK and across the developed world have proposed banning cash and imposing negative interest rates on savers
- How the building pressure in the plumbing of the euro threatens to destabilise – and even ruin – the entire European project
- How the remnants of the British Empire have become vital pillars of the global financial system – and may be a golden opportunity for ex-pats seeking liberty outside the UK.
We’ll write to you every single day the markets are open. You’ll find out what the big stories really mean. And you’ll hear the stories nobody else is talking about today, but which could have a far bigger impact on your financial future.
One thing you should understand right from the outset, though, is this:
We’re not here to report the news.
There are a million different places you can visit to find out “what” is going on out there in the world.
Flick to BBC News 24 or Sky News and you’ll see all manner of numbers, ticker symbols and data flowing ceaselessly across the bottom of your screen.
It’s the same story when you open your newspaper – whether it’s a copy of The Daily Telegraph, The Times or The Guardian.
It’s all the same.
Tech stocks up. Bond yields down. Some politico or other ahead in the polls. More central bank stimulus announced or underway.
That’s information. You can find it anywhere, anytime. On the TV, on the internet and in the papers. You get news and a number or statistic.
But what good is that to you? Does it give you an advantage over other investors?
The average investor has access to an abundance of useless facts and senseless statistics. Everyone knows everything. And almost no one knows anything useful.
By the time you hear oil has crashed… or the gold market has come to a standstill due to lockdowns… or Italian bond yields have spiked… it’s already too late.
You’re finding out at exactly the same time as everyone else. And all you’re getting is constant… practically worthless… information.
This isn’t a new problem. French economist Frédéric Bastiat summed the idea up back in the 1800s in his essay “What is seen and not seen” (emphasis added):
In the economic sphere an act, a habit, an institution, a law produces not only one effect, but a series of effects. Of these effects, the first alone is immediate; it appears simultaneously with its cause; it is seen. The other effects emerge only subsequently; they are not seen; we are fortunate if we foresee them.
There is only one difference between a bad economist and a good one: the bad economist confines himself to the visible effect; the good economist takes into account both the effect that can be seen and those effects that must be foreseen.
Mainstream news is information. It’s what EVERYONE can see.
Information like that doesn’t help you grow your wealth.
It’s what’s UNSEEN – what isn’t obvious to the masses – that’s truly valuable.
It’s only the insight, expertise and ideas you find outside the mainstream news cycle that help deliver you the biggest returns.
And that’s where the Capital & Conflict team comes in.
In short, people who are adept at looking beyond the obvious… beyond what everyone can see… and showing you what’s really happening.
The analysts you’ll read are perfectly positioned to deliver useful insights on a daily basis. You’ll join a global investment research network with offices in the US, Paris, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Mumbai.
My hope is that this gives you the perspective, and the tools, to help you enjoy even more investment success.
